Product FAQ

What is Persony VShow?
Persony VShow is a suite of Web conferencing software used by a meeting host to share desktop, conduct meetings, or deliver webinars online. VShow is extremely cost-effect because it uses standard Web servers to connect online attendees. Meeting hosts need to install and run Persony VShow on a PC (currently only Windows 2000 and XP are supported) and have access to a Web server. Meeting attendees only need a Web browser and Flash.

What can Persony VShow do?
Persony VShow suite of software includes VShow LE, VShow and VShow Professional. VShow LE is a simple-to-use product designed for sharing desktop with one click. VShow allows you to create meeting Web sites and includes many collaboration functions, such as presentation and desktop sharing, shared whiteboard, polling, file transfer, and instant messaging. VShow also supports popular Internet telephony services, such as Skype™. VShow Professional adds user registration, recording, and audio webcast functions to VShow. Instead of using expensive conference calls, VShow Professional allows you to broadcast the presenter’s voice, synchronized with meeting events, to all the attendees. See "Product Comparisons" for more details.

What can I use Persony VShow for?

Persony VShow can be used in many applications, such as:

  • Delivering online sales presentations to prospective customers

  • Conducting high-impact webinars to generate leads

  • Conducting internal corporate communication meetings

  • Collaborating with colleagues remotely on a project

  • Creating multimedia customer support presentations

  • Delivering online educational courses

What is the key advantage of Persony's solution?
The key advantage lies in Persony’s breakthrough smart-client” technology, that turns a standard Web server into a sophisticated Web conference server. By leveraging millions of Web servers and Web hosting infrastructures already in place, Persony can offer a Web conferencing solution that is both very low cost and ubiquitous.

How does VShow compare with other Web conferencing services?
Most Web conferencing services require meeting attendees to download some proprietary software. VShow meetings are Flash-based and attendees simply join a meeting using a standard Web browser running on Windows, Linux or Macintosh computers. Other Web conferencing services charge expensive per-month, per-seat, or per-minute fees. With VShow, you can have unlimited meetings starting at a one-time purchase of $99 with no monthly fees. In addition to cost savings, VShow allows you to use your own website to run meetings.

How does VShow compare with P2P based Web meeting solutions?
Peer-to-peer (P2P) based Web meeting solutions require a direct connection between two conferencing computers. Since many computers are behind a firewall, direct connections are not always feasible. Furthermore, P2P solutions are limited to small group meetings since each computer needs to be connected to all the others in the meeting. Persony's solution can work with any firewall setup and handle large group meetings.

Can I use one VShow license on multiple computers?
Persony allows you to install VShow on up to 2 computers, provided that they are both used by the same licensed user, with the same license key.

What is the quality and latency of Persony meetings?
Persony VShow converts your desktop motions into high-quality Flash movies for sharing with remote attendees. The latency of meeting events depends on your network speed and the sharing contents. For a typical broadband connection (DSL or cable), the latency ranges from 1 to 5 seconds.

How much bandwidth is needed to host Persony meetings?
You need to have a minimum of 56kbps Internet connection to host or attend Persony meetings. If you need to show your desktop, you should have a broadband connection with at least 100kbps of upload speed. Depending on your meeting activities and audio options, a Persony meeting transfers from 10 to 20 MB of data per attendee hour (from your Web server). If you run 10 one-hour meetings per month with 10 attendees in each meeting, you will be transferring 1 to 2GB of data a month.

Do I need to install any Persony software on my Web server?
No, Persony VShow does not require any special software on the Web server. Your Web server needs to support FTP and PHP. Please see the system requirements for more information.
