Cost-Effective Web Conferencing and Online Meetings

How It Works

Most Web conferencing solutions use proprietary servers to route meeting events and data. These servers are complicated and costly to install and operate. Most customers pay a monthly fee to use a hosted service provided by a Web conferencing service provider. The monthly fees can still cost hundreds of dollars and the service is subject to the availability of the service provider.

Persony's "smart-client" technology puts the intelligence of running a Web meeting on the client side and uses a standard Web server to route meeting events. During a Web meeting, Persony's smart-client software converts meeting events, audio, presentation slides, and desktop sharing data to dynamic Flash®-based Web pages that can be displayed by most Web browsers. Only meeting hosts or presenters need to install Persony's software. Meeting attendees simply use a Web browser to attend a meeting. Persony uses standard HTTP and FTP ports and protocols to transmit data and should work with most firewalls.

Persony's solution is not P2P, which is not scalable and often does not work behind firewalls. By leveraging existing Web servers and Web hosting infrastructures, Persony's solution can be deployed anywhere and at very low cost.
